Description
The Rabaja vineyards are located in the commune of Barbaresco. The wines were planted here in 1970s and are 100% Nebbiolo. The white chalky clay soil known as “Marne di Sant’Agata” lends elegance and long aging potential to these wines.
The grapes were hand harvested and transported in small baskets. After careful sorting, only the best made it to the vat. Maceration lasted for 40 days and the must was fermentated in open-top wooden vats. The wine was aged for 20 months in large Slavonian oak casks, 2 months in steel tanks and a further aging of 26 months in the bottle prior to its release. The wine was bottle unfiltered and unfined.
Barbaresco is a perfumed wine made from Nebbiolo. Stylistically very similar to Barolo, this wine has a shorter aging requirement and softer tannins and can be enjoyed young.
