Description
Castello di Verduno’s Barbaresco is made from a selection of Nebbiolo grapes grown in several estate vineyards in the Barbaresco area (Rabajà, Rabajà-Bas and Faset). The soil is composed of white earth, with a high limestone content , known as the “Marne di Sant’Agata”(30% sand – 55% clay – 15% calcium). Thanks to this soil composition, wines of great elegance and potential aging are produced.
Castello di Verduno is a traditional producer employing long maceration times and aging their wines in large Slovenian/East European oak "botte" casks for several months resulting in highly structured wines. Wines are further aged in stainless steel, bottled without fining or filtration and undergo further aging in bottle before release.

Taste
A great example of Nebbiolo; full-bodied, elevated tannins with refreshing acidity. The fruit is tart and ripe showing red cherry, red currant, cranberry. There is a dried earth and leather quality to the wine with an underlying note of crunchy red rose petals and black tea leaves. A highly complex and beautifully balanced expression of Barbaresco.
