Description
Barolo from Castello di Verduno is produced from a blend of Nebbiolo grapes sourced from the highly regarded Massara, Monvigliero and Boscato vineyards situated on the celebrated Marne di Sant’Agata soil (comprised of 30% sand – 55% clay – 15% calcium). Harvest is completed entirely by hand, carefully selecting the best bunches and placing them in small perforated boxes. This blend of vineyards leads to the production of a unique Barolo each vintage with great ageing potential.
Once at the winery, the grapes are macerated in wooden vats up to 40 days; with the traditional splitting of the cap to continue the maximum extraction from the skins even after the end of fermentation. Aging takes place over the course of 32 months in large oak barrels and for two further months in stainless steel hands. The wine is refined in the bottle over the course of 21 months before it is released to market.

Taste
A beautiful expression of Nebbiolo from Verduno. The wine is bone-dry, full bodied with tannins that are ripe, persistent and balanced. The fruit is tart and ripe showing red fruit such as red cherries, red currants and raspberries with an underlying essence of orange oil. There is a beautiful red rose florality with lots of fresh leather, dried leaves, and tobacco smoke.
