Description
Azienda Agricola ‘499’ was founded in 2012 by two talented winemaking professionals; Mario Andrion (winemaker at Castello di Verduno) and Gabriele Saffirio (formerly of Brovia). Located on the picturesque cliffs of Camo at the top of the Langhe, the estate is planted to 14 acres solely dedicated to Moscato and Freisa.
The winery takes its name from the elevation of the vineyards situated at 499m above sea level. The cool climate here allows for the slower ripening of grapes; yielding wines with naturally elevated acidity. ‘499’ employs minimal intervention practices in both the vineyard and the winery which shows in the glass as they produce wines that are refined, full of character and vibrancy.
The grapes are from 40-year-old vines grown on chalky soils. This is a one of a kind dry expression of Moscato from a single site. The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks resulting in an aromatic and refreshing wine.

Taste
Intense aromatics of florals and stone fruit. This dry Moscato shows good balance on the palate with notes of sage, savoury with green apple and nuanced of tropical fruit. The underlying stoney minerality gives the wine an exceptionally refreshing character with a hint of salted grapefruit on the finish.
