Description
Guardolivento is dedicated to Dante Albieri (graphic) Maria de Ferraris (artist) and Francesco Antonelli (navigator and writer). The name of the wine is shared with the first novel ever written by Antonelli; and represents the image of the vine cultivated on Albarello that is crossed in all directions by the wind, strong at times. Despite all, the vine will prosper and is anchored to the land that feeds it.
The inaugural vintage was in 2013 and continues to this day to be a true expression of the black and stony earth from which it was born. The vineyards are planted in Nerello Mascalese and are situated at 750 m elevation with a North/ North-East exposure. After harvest, grapes are brought to the winery for meticulous sorting; both alcoholic fermentation and malolactic fermentation occur in stainless steel tanks. The wine then undergoes ageing in French barriques for a period of 8 months and refining in the bottle for a minimum of 3 months before release.

Taste
A rich and riveting Nerello Mascalese from Mount Etna. There are beautiful notes of crushed strawberries, raspberries and kirsch. The fruit is nicely complemented by bitter cocoa, cinnamon hearts, and an ashy and saline minerality. The wine is dry and medium-bodied with integrated tannins and refreshing acidity.
