Description
The Boissan estate is located at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail and Mont Ventoux. One of the oldest vineyards in the region, established in the 17th century, Christian Bonfils is the fifth generation to be leading the estate. Owners Christian and wife Cathy Bonfils come from families of generational wines makers in Burgundy. Together, they have established a reputation for their exceptional wines with tireless efforts in organic farming and sustainable practices in the vineyard.
A blend of Grenache (80%) and Syrah (20%) which are grown on soils with gravelly terraces and clay, limestone slopes. The grapes from these 40+ year old vines are hand harvested and whole cluster pressed. Skins are left to macerate and clarification is done by cold settling. 30% of the wine is aged in 1 and 2-year old barrels for 6 to 12 months while the other 70% is aged in stainless steel vats.
