Description
Azienda Agricola ‘499’ was founded in 2012 by two talented winemaking professionals; Mario Andrion (winemaker at Castello di Verduno) and Gabriele Saffirio (formerly of Brovia). Located on the picturesque cliffs of Camo at the top of the Langhe the estate is planted to 14 acres solely dedicated to Moscato and Freisa.
The winery takes its name from the elevation of the vineyards, situated at 499m above sea level. The cool climate here allows for the slower ripening of grapes; yielding wines with naturally elevated acidity. ‘499’ employs minimal intervention practices in both the vineyard and the winery, which shows in the glass as they produce wines that are refined and full of character and vibrancy.
The grapes for their Langhe Nebbiolo Sori del Mattino are cultivated from 20-year-old vines grown on limestone-rich soils. The wine is fragrant, juicy and easy drinking.

Taste
A fragrant and refreshing Nebbiolo from its home in Piedmont. The wine shows notes of tart and ripe red berry fruit: strawberries, raspberries, and cherries. There are underlying notes of fresh-turned earth, crushed black tea leaves, star anise, and red rose petals. The wine is dry, full-bodied with nicely integrated tannin and mouth-watering acidity. It is the perfect balance of complex, yet easy drinking. Enjoy this wine at cellar temperature.
