Description
The story of Chiusa Grande Organic Farm started in the early ‘60s when Rocco D’Eusanio recognised a gap in the market in the Centre and South of Italy and started his company to grow and sell vines, which soon became the area’s go-to point for the wine sector. The D’Eusanio family in 1991 acquired the Chiusa Grande country estate and grew vines and organic vegetables in heated greenhouses. They then moved into production and in 1996 their first wine was made. Today, Chiusa Grande is led by Franco D’Eusanio, son of Rocco, and Franco’s children Ilaria and young Rocco. Together, from 60 hectares of vines, they make organic wines.
The Montepulciano grapes are manually harvested in the 2nd and 3rd weeks of October. The must remained in contact with the skins for about 30 days at a controlled temperature of 28-30˚C. After fermentation the wine rested in stainless steel for about 6-8 months then 20% of the wine is aged in oak barrique for a couple of months.
