Description
Built in Saint-Estèphe by the Merman family at the beginning of the 19th century, Château le Crock is surrounded by vineyards and a 6 hectares park. It is is situated directly between Chateau Cos d’Estournel and Chateau Montrose in Saint-Estephe. In 1903, with the acquisition by the Cuvelier family, the Château reached 32 hectares and developed their second wine: La Croix St-Estèphe.
Today, the vineyards of Chateau Le Crock are planted to 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot, which have an average age of 37 years. The vines are planted to Garonne gravel over typical Saint-Estèphe clay-limestone. The wine is then aged for 12 months in barrels before bottling.

Taste
Very expressive upon opening, the wine reveals classic aromas of blackberry, spices, tar, licorice and crushed stones. Representative of Saint-Estèphe, Chateau La Croix is beautifully balanced, fresh and fruity which make it wonderfully approachable in its early years, but also lends itself well to a few short years in the cellar.
