Description
Arnaldo Caprai, originally a textiles entrepreneur, founded his winery in 1971 by purchasing 12.5 acres of land in Montefalco. In 1988 his son Marco took over the estate to revolutionize grape growing and viticulture for the estate. Today, they are considered to be a benchmark producer of the region.
Arnaldo Caprai is further celebrated as a producer committed to sustainable farming practices and recognized as being champions for their winemaking in Umbria. The inaugural vintage for Caprai’s Anima Umbra is 2006. The vines are trained on spurred cordon trellising systems with a vine density of 4.000- 8.000 vines (per ha), yielding 8 tons (per ha). The wine is aged for 8 months in French oak barrique and a further 3 months of aging in bottle before it is released.

Taste
An expressive and appealing blend of Sangiovese (85%) and Canaiolo (15%); red fruit fills the glass with notes of sour cherry, red currant and raspberries. The fruit is accompanied by notes of cigar box, underbrush, crushed earl grey tea leaves and nutmeg. The wine is dry, medium bodied, with long length and bright acidity.
