Historical Significance: Guido Cocci Grifoni took over his family’s estate in Piceno, a secluded hilly area in Italy's Marche region known for its Renaissance villages and small landholders.
Innovative Vision: In the 1960s, Guido revitalized the region by rediscovering the ancient indigenous grape variety, Pecorino, previously thought lost. He crafted one of Italy’s most cherished white wines, marking a significant departure from the region’s traditional focus on full-bodied reds.
Legacy and Impact: The Cocci Grifoni family played a crucial role in saving this grape variety, preserving a piece of Italy’s winemaking heritage and redefining the region's identity.
Commitment to Nature: The estate, established in 1933, emphasizes living in harmony with nature, surrounded by forests, fields of wheat, and olive groves, ensuring sustainable land stewardship.
Certified Organic: Today, the Cocci Grifoni vineyards are certified organic, benefiting from a unique microclimate created by large day-night temperature fluctuations and natural landscape features that promote viticulture and biodiversity.
